Jesus taught us to meet the needs of all. We want The Woodlands United Methodist Church to be God's house where all are welcomed. For seven years we have slowly grown our ministry to families with a special needs family member. We want to embrace your family with a warm and trusting environment through a partnership of "shadow" volunteers and provide a place where the entire family can worship and connect with others. Our goal is to match your special needs student with a loving volunteer who will partner with your family to provide weekly care and companionship to mainstream in an age appropriate environment. We work with each student individually to make transitions appropriate for them and allow for away time if needed. We have volunteers available to assist with children who are unable to mainstream.  We have a special classroom where you can meet your volunteer and receive a beeper while you are in worship. 

Children’s Sunday School:
Session I  9 - 10:30
Session II 10:30 - 12

Mom's Group - Meet other moms of special needs children.   Moms Bible Study meets on Thursdays at 11:00 in Aldersgate Hall.  Give us a call for more information.

Peer Play Group - Join other families at a playdate for our younger children in Safari Stop.  Bring a picnic dinner to the Columns Cafe, then enjoy time together as the kids play in our indoor playground.  6:00-8:00 p.m.   Mar 14, April 11, May 9.

Learning Lab - Our learning lab includes items such as a large swing, therapy balls, a hippotherapy simulation horse, and other therapeutic toys.  The lab is available for you to use with your family or therapist daily from noon until 7 pm.  This room is a great place for a private therapy session or for practicing skills in between therapy sessions.

Family Worship Services - A casual worship service designed especially for you.  Join us in Wesley Hall for these communion services.

• We begin at 11 am with worship.  Registration is required for lunch and is available online. (click on "registrations" above in the navigation to view all available registrations)

Summer Mom's Bible Study
What:  Come join us for a night of fellowship, prayer and renewal as we study God’s word.  This summer study will not require any homework or advance preparation .
When:   Thursdays at the church in the room listed from 7 – 9 p.m. 
When:  June 12 – Aldersgate    June 26, July 10, July 24, & August 7 – Jones Library
*Childcare will not be provided.

Special Blessings VBS - July 23-25, 2008.  Register online beginning March 1st - 25 spaces available for special needs students ages 4-12.  To view all available online registrations, click "registrations" above in the navigation bar.

• United Cerebral Palsy offers Family Day Out at TWUMC once a month. This respite program allows children to participate in recreation and craft activities and be matched one-on-one with a "buddy." • Music Therapy - open to children of all ages.  Contact Ann Swearingen, board certified music therapist at 281.615.4308.
• Samurai Special Needs Program - A modified Taekwondo class.  It is open to children ages 7 – 18 with disabilities as well as their siblings.  Any disability and all levels of limitation, both physical and mental, are welcome.  Contact Sami at 281.352.2480 or see their website at www.pro-fitness.us.
